Writing under the pen name of ‘Lysander Lancaster’, Jason Lockley was born and raised in Lancashire in the 1960s. He joined the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service in the mid-1980s, straight after college. Initially posted to Scotland, he went on to hold positions in both Diesel and Nuclear submarines. During his service he was involved in, and witnessed… armed conflict, peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, anti-smuggling operations and deterrence/intelligence activities. When not working at the sharp end he found time to relax and undertook such activities as: Walking in Shackleton’s footsteps across South Georgia; playing cricket at the North Pole; drinking in Fort Lauderdale during Spring Break and playing rugby for the Royal Navy’s First Fifteen… After leaving the Royal Navy in 2006 he re-invented himself and now works in Engineering Programme Management for the UK nuclear and defence industry.
Lockley has always put pen to paper, writing poems and short stories and has drawer full of scribblings just waiting to see the light of day. Book 1 of the Hexalym Chronicles was one such scribbling and represents the culmination of two years’ worth of early mornings, weekends and late evenings sitting in his home office during the Covid Pandemic.
Notwithstanding writing, his passions are, avoiding mundane household chores, metal detecting and watching sport on TV. He currently resides in in Cornwall at the foot of Bodmin Moor and shares his life with a six chickens, two black Labradors, two cats, one wife and three grownup children.
